Brisbane

Brisbane is nestled in the south-east corner of Queensland with a population of approximately 2.1 million people. Being Australia’s subtropical metropolis, it is also the capital and major city of Queensland, Australia's 3rd largest state by population and 2nd largest by area. It severs as a commercial and transport hub, the gateway to the popular beachside playgrounds of the Gold and Sunshine Coasts. Brisbane has hosted many large cultural and sporting events, including the 1982 Commonwealth Games, World Expo '88 and the final Goodwill Games in 2001. The Brisbane central business district (CBD) lies in a curve of the Brisbane river and it is the largest economy between Sydney and Singapore. It was also rated the 16th most livable city in the world in 2009 by The Economist Intelligence Unit.
